Last year, I left Verizon after 10 pretty amazing years heading up the design of their award winning Intranet and Digital Workplace to join Capital One’s design team. Now, I’m an Experience Design Lead / Senior Manager for C1’s Credit Card division. My work is within what we call the platform space. If there’s a complicated interconnected system at play, that’s where I want to be. I’m a huge advocate for the importance of Information Architecture and Systems Design and it’s impact on user experience, and a believer that great teams are the result of servant leadership and kindness first.

Tools & Methods

Design thinking, servant leadership, agile and scrum development, lean UX & design sprints, prototyping in Sketch, Invision, UXPin & Axure, Adobe Creative Cloud

User Research

Ethnographic approaches, interviewing, card sorting & tree jacks, focus groups, survey design, think-aloud protocols, heuristic evaluations, A/B testing

Leadership Philosophy

You are only ever as good as your team. When I first took on leadership roles, I knew it was important to step back and consider what kind of team I wanted to be a part of. In the end, it was exceedingly simple. My philosophy ever since has been to lead with kindness and empathy in order to create kind and emphatic teams. Teams with these critical characteristics are by their nature more creative and more innovative.

These samples are mostly from my days at Verizon. While I’ve been clocking away at Cap One for a year now, I haven’t gotten around to showcasing that cool stuff just yet.
