All About Rachel
Hello! I'm Rachel. I'm a Senior Technical Manager for a group we fondly call Creative Services at Verizon. I'm charged with making the Verizon Intranet and Digital Workplace a consistent, delightful and most importantly usable experience. My team has won 3 major awards for our work, not too shabby.
Sometimes I wear bow ties!
I have an undergraduate degree from Loyola College in Maryland. It's in Computer Science, but my real passion is design and usability, which I went to Georgia Tech to pursue. I have a degree in Human Computer Interaction from the College of Computing there.
Since graduation, I worked for a couple of years at a small R&D firm called Language Computer Corporation doing interface design and information visualization research. I then moved on to doing IA work at Verizon. Eventually, I transitioned into my current manager role, which has been a wonderful challenge. Now my passion lies in both UX and in building & leading innovative, high performing teams.
Details of work at Verizon is, naturally, proprietary, and therefore really interesting. Contact me if you want to learn more.
In addition to usability and design, I play around with writing, photography, scooters and making (not usually terrible) beer.
